Resources: Big Block Truck Kit Notes

There is nothing difficult about ordering the correct parts if you want to put a big block into your Dodge truck (specifically all Dodge pickups, 100-350, Ramchargers, Traildusters, 2 and 4 wheel drive from 1972-1993 -- will not fit trucks from 1988-1993 that originally came with 3.9 V-6 engine). This project, when properly planned, can be a weekend changeover.

This kit gives you the ability to install a 383, 400, or 440 Mopar engine into your Dodge/Mopar truck, doesn not matter which size engine is currently installed. The basic kit comes complete with all components that differ when using a donor car engine and installing it into a truck. With our specially manufactured engine mounting brackets, you can utilize your present engine insulators (rubber mounts). The engine mounting brackets will work with 2 and 4 wheel drive applications, which also have added clearance for use with high volume oil pumps.

Basic kits include:

  • 6 quart rear sump oil pan
  • oil pump pickup
  • oil level indicator and tube
  • tube fitting
  • drain plug with gasket
  • both engine mounting brackets

We manufacture numerous products to complement this change over including:

  • air conditioning compressor mounting brackets for A / B / RB / Hemi
  • our patented TorqueFlite kickdown cable kit
  • correct fitting Saginaw power steering mounting bracket kits
  • small diameter power brake boosters for fit with 440 engine
  • reproduction Mopar steel pulleys, headers and exhaust manifolds
  • and many other products

Power Brake Booster Notes For Big Block Truck Conversions

If your truck is a D, AD, W or AW 100/150 that came with factory Power Brakes, you must identify the style booster on your truck, two styles were available, the Single Diaphragm booster was large in diameter and sat flat against firewall, it measures roughly, 11 1/2". The other version, called a midland or dual diaphragm booster measured, roughly 8 1/2". If you are installing a B Engine, 360-383-400, either booster generally will not cause any value cover interference when using production style valve covers. If you are installing a RB Engine, 413-426-440, you must use a Midland Dual Diaphragm Booster with original Equipment Style Valve Covers.

Aftermarket or aluminum finned valve covers will not work unless you use the Midland Dual Diaphragm Booster and relocate booster mounting point, at fire wall, sometimes as much as 1" further away from engine. These are easy to install, just unbolt your master cylinder, (no need to loosen lines from master cylinder.) pull out away from booster. Then just go inside and remove mounting nuts from studs and push rod from brake lever. Reverse Removal procedure for installation.

Since 3/4 and 1 ton Trucks come with heavier duty brakes, they already have a smaller booster. 1972-1978 Brake Boosters are only available in 2 bolt master cylinder styles, no 4 bolt style boosters available any more.
